About Michael Cellucci

My name is Michael Cellucci, and I am currently a student at Milligan University, studying Exercise Science. I am working towards getting accepted into graduate school to study Physical Therapy. I am a current team member of the Milligan Men’s Swim Team where I compete in distance freestyle. I have had some work experience while a student: my first job was a trained lifeguard for the Carolina Pool Management company in Charlotte, North Carolina in the summer of 2021. I was responsible for opening and closing the pool, checking the pH and chlorine levels of the pool, and was on stand scanning the pool to make sure of everyone’s safety. Going on, I was given the opportunity to be the Head Coach for my neighborhood summer swim team the Brookhaven Barracudas in the summer of 2022. As the Head Coach, I helped assign practices with our assistant coaches and I personally helped teach our younger swimmers how to swim all four of the competitive strokes. For the older swimmers, I coached them for better technique and improved their endurance. We swam at 6 regular season meets, and the Greater Charlotte Swim League Championship meet. My current summer job is as a server at my parent’s restaurant “The Italian Pizza and Pasta Restaurant”. I am learning more and more each shift about being able to work under pressure, and communicate with adults. Throughout all of my work experience, a great skill of mine is leadership. I am an Eagle Scout and learned a lot about leadership while leading my Eagle Scout service project, and being led at other service projects and events throughout my scouting career. As I finish my degree at Milligan, I am planning on getting some internships within the next couple of years to prepare myself for what my future job will be like, and I will have a better understanding of what to expect. I am always eager to learn and improve with everything that I do.

Being able to have had the opportunity to be the Head Coach of my old summer league neighborhood swim team was an amazing experience. As a swimmer, it was not only really cool to experience the other side of the sport, but it helped me learn more to improve my own game in the sport. I coached every age group from kids 6 years old and under to 15-18 year olds. I successfully coached every age group on the team all 4 strokes, flip turns, and dives. I learned a lot about team chemistry and how to manage a team.
