The project I worked on was a prototype that enabled people to locate their cars in the underground car park without GPS signal.Responsibilities:• Designed an indoor navigation prototype using WLAN/Bluetooth and Inertial Navigation• Tested the prototype at an underground car park and the accuracy was around 72%• Analysed positioning data using Python and improved the accuracy using Machine Learning frameworks• Wrote proposals and applied for grants and projects from both academia and industry• Discussed with potential stakeholders to optimise the positioning algorithm

I worked on a project named ”A Communications Network System for Smart Electricity Grids” supported by Ausgrid, Wallsend office and the Australia Research Council. It aimed to develop a model simulating the communication between households and Ausgrid when electricity was generated at households by solar panels and sold back to Ausgrid, which was part of the plan of re-flourishing Newcastle.Responsibilities:• Designed a network simulation model for Smart Grids using C and the OPNET modeller• Validated the model using Queuing and Scholastic Markov Chain theories• Designed new algorithms mitigating WLAN/LoWPAN interference for Smart Meters at households• Showcased modelling results to the supervisors and stakeholders from Ausgrid to discuss project requirements• Published research results in academic journals and presented them at international conferences• Troubleshooted modelling errors such as code errors and mis-configurations

The project I participated in was named ”An IPV6-based Vehicle Navigation System”. The project was a prototype made for China FAW Group, the largest car manufacturer in China. The system later evolved into an Uber-like system enabling drivers to obtain the planned route before departure and to help them navigate en route in a real-time manner using IPv6 networks.Responsibilities:• Designed a Linux GPS software module for GPS coordinates and road map mapping in the vehicle• Designed another Linux software module facilitating Network Address Translation between IPv6 and IPv4• Created a UI using Visual C++ to show the real-time vehicle trace and managed the MS Sql Sever• Programmed micro-controllers based on ARM 9 in C to control actuators (vehicle lights and windows)• Conducted integrated tests from the actuators via the in-vehicle gateway to the server side• Showcased progress to the stakeholders from the FAW Group and discussed further improments
