Mr. Chiarulli has recently moved from ABC to Disney Direct to Consumer & International, though his role has not changed. In support of ABC, Mr. Chiarulli leads the department responsible for distributing the ABC Television Network signals to domestic affiliated television stations, as well as acquiring and exchanging television signals from remote sites and between studios. Mr. Chiarulli leads all departmental operations, including the 21/7 Network Traffic area, frequency coordination services, and the department’s Affiliate and Distribution Services area. Mr. Chiarulli also heads the engineering and project side of the department which will deploy new High Definition MPEG-4 and HEVC distribution gear to modernize the hybrid satellite/terrestrial path distribution of the ABC Television Network, has interconnected HD studios on a regional and international basis, has implemented new transmission scheduling software, has replaced wireless camera equipment in conjunction with the 2 GHz band relocation including a “cellular microwave” concept, and has built a network control system and center designed to support new workflows to ensure the quality and accuracy of the distribution of ABC’s multiple SD and HD networks.

Mr. Chiarulli has served ABC since 1983 in many capacities including engineering roles for satellite, fiber, and RF Engineering, as well as operational roles for wireless microphone and wireless cameras for sports and news remotes. He has served as Chairman of the NABA (North American Broadcasters Association) Technical Committee and as Vice-Chair of the WBU (World Broadcast Union) Inter-Union Technical Committee.

Mr. Chiarulli, a Registered Professional Engineer, once built submarines and submarine bases, but strongly prefers the television industry.
