As a partner at Summit Trail Advisors, I provide independent investment advice to wealthy families, family offices, non profits and foundations. As a fiduciary, the counsel we provide our clients is free from most of the conflicts of interests that arise in typical wealth management relationships. Our firm was founded on the principals of providing a client experience that is materially improved from the experience clients receive at the larger banking institutions. The foundation of our process is understanding each clients needs and objectives. Working together with our clients, we determine what portion of assets allocated to preservation, growth and inflation protected investments. Operating with discretion, we implement the agreed upon plan. Our dialogue with the clients and discussion of their portfolio is structured to meet each client's needs. Often we will invest client's capital with boutique managers. Many exhibit the traits we think lead to sustainable out performance. Where no such manager exists, we will use exchange traded funds or indices as we are focused on the costs our clients pay.Based on the needs of our clients, we provide individually customized performance reporting that materially enhance the position reporting our clients custodians provide. Our performance monitoring systems can provide performance across traditional and alternative asset classes including private equity and hedge funds. Our reports consolidate holdings held away from Summit Trail, which enable our clients to have a full picture of the performance of their assets across advisers and assets classes.
