As the Customer Success Intern at Touchtown, a successful software company specializing in senior living products, Michael gained valuable experience in the everyday operations of a small business. Michael reported directly to the Vice President of Customer Success and had regular interactions with C-level management. Michael had the opportunity to assist in human resource management, inventory management, project management, marketing, and IT tasks. This work included updating the new employee orientation guide, editing content so that it is not so overwhelming for new hires. Creating surveys for project managers to send to new customers, providing a platform to build off of with new clients, making the process more streamline and efficient. Contributing research and input for a new employee evaluation method. He implemented a new inventory tracking system for company assets from scratch. Michael learned that you have to be flexible in the business setting, being ready to take on new tasks and projects even in areas where you do not have that much experience. Michael enjoyed the opportunity to learn and experience multiple different job fields, combined with the family like atmosphere made Touchtown a great place to work.

Michael spent his summer breaks from 2012-2015 assisting customer needs at Lowe’s Home Improvement. Michael’s tasks included assisting customer needs and matching the best product with their need, implementing new marketing initiatives and product promotions. This job was very beneficial in developing strong communication skills. He also learned how different marketing strategies involving product placement can not only increase sales, but increase customer engagement.

Michael helped to manage and account for company stock inventory. While working collaboratively to engage cross-departmental problem solving, that would decrease the down time of company equipment and keep things running smoothly. Michael also worked to help keep the company grounds in pristine and presentable condition.
