Production Manager:

As I am the senior production engineer at Grand Tellumat Manufacturing and have been asked to assist Tellumat Defense with a new contract for Curtis Wright. This is to go through the data pack and ensure all information is correct and conforms to requirement, to layout a new production area and ensure all tooling and jigs are either bought or made. To produce documents/flip charts to enable smooth and efficient production. This will take me to Jan 2017 when I reluctantly have to retire.

New product introduction, design jigs and fixtures for efficient production build. Vet drawings and parts list to ensure job is producible and to industrialized where required. Purchase any special tools required for production build and any safety clothing that might be required, and ensure the area of build meets with personnel ergonomics and safety. Gather data and safety sheets so that all precautions are in place, temp to solder, room ventilation, lighting, jigs and fixture meet with operator and legal satisfaction. Once in production "hopefully" all goes well, but the best set out plans and designs do have problems, and its my job to get over these hick ups as efficiently with minimal disruption. Time jobs before and when on the line for cost and line balancing, monitor first off build to ensure process is correct. Design loom boards and running list for wire harness build, be up to date with all new technology, types of wire covering, RF cables, Fibre optic ferrule termination, new SMD packages, new PCB materials FR4, Ceramic, Glass, Soft boards, and then the different flux's and cleaning methods................. there is so much and its so interesting, what you learn today is the foundation for tomorrow.

Experience: umm 50 continual years at the same company Plessey/Tellumat/GTM, from valves to mimic and BGAs, from designing looms/ lacing them, cabling on ships and land base radars, gluing, splicing and polishing ferrules on fibre optics cables. Industrialization of many customer products i.e MLT, Light Kinetics, SAN PC, and many more. Whilst as Senior Production Engineer I brought in a few new customers, who in 2016 are still with us.

Take concept designs and engineer them into a manufacture state, ensure data pack is correct then to build first off and ensure process and design are satisfactory to customer requirement.

I was on the shop floor building radar equipment, from PCB to unit cabling and integration. Some radars worked on AR3D, 996, WF3, HF200, AR1 and AR5, BISON and many more. On site installation and modification in Falklands, South Africa, Egypt, UK and some sea trails in the North sea.
