In the initial stages of this internship, I learnt the basics of this company’s business by working with the sales manager, learning how to create quotations for custom carbon fiber components, and assisting with repricing the items sold on their online store. Having grasped the basics of this company’s product line, the remainder of the internship focused on learning the fabrication process and building composite carbon fiber parts for customers on the factory floor. With the mentoring of the… Show more In the initial stages of this internship, I learnt the basics of this company’s business by working with the sales manager, learning how to create quotations for custom carbon fiber components, and assisting with repricing the items sold on their online store. Having grasped the basics of this company’s product line, the remainder of the internship focused on learning the fabrication process and building composite carbon fiber parts for customers on the factory floor. With the mentoring of the experienced technicians, I was able to learn the techniques quite easily and begin producing parts that satisfied the required quality control standards. This involved learning to read fabrication drawings, correct techniques for laying down pre-impregnated carbon fiber, vacuum bagging and checking for leaks, sanding finished parts, and bonding. By the end of the internship I was able to work on some of the new and more complex pieces being built, demonstrating my ability to learn fast and to quickly become a valued team member. Show less
