I'm an applied mathematician with a background in mathematics and physics, and specialise in modelling and analysing complex systems. I am currently building monitoring software for internet micro-services, focussing on distilling vast amounts of data into usable information to help engineers to fix issues quickly.I am still involved in research in academia, in projects in modelling climate processes and in biophysics. My work on climate processes is on modelling melting processes in Arctic sea ice under increased warming of the region, funded by the UK's National Environmental Research Council. This includes modelling melting as dynamics on a network, and focusses on percolation in surface water-ice systems.My work in biology focusses on animal neuroscience, including using multi-layer perceptron models to explore how biological processes such as neurogenesis affect brain function in lower animals, and on methods for analysing animal movement trajectories.
