Michael Cramer is a Licensed Engineer and the Senior Technical Director in the Global Metals and Mining Group at Citi. He has been an Industry Specialist for metals, mining, aluminum, steel, and energy minerals for over 25 years. His primary responsibility includes directing and supporting the Bank's interests in its global metals and mining business. This includes marketing, managing credit and capital commitments, technical services and providing individual approvals for transactions. Mr. Cramer has been involved in numerous transactions from an array of product perspectives including corporate finance, acquisition finance, public and private underwritings, project finance, commodity finance, equity, leveraged and asset backed financings, and M&A's for mines, smelters and refineries around the world.Prior to his banking years, Mr. Cramer was a Chief Engineer with Consolidation Coal Company and ran the processing equipment labs at York Chemical Company. Mr. Cramer received a BS in Geochemical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology/Rutgers, a MS in Mining Engineering from the Krumb School of Mines at Columbia University and an ABD Professional Degree in Mineral Finance, also from Columbia University, where he has lectured on the subject.Mr. Cramer is registered as a, Chartered Professional (CP) in Mining with the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), a Registered Member (RM) in Mining with the Society for Mining Metallurgy and Exploration (SME), a Qualified Person (QP) in Mining and Ore Reserves with the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America., and a Benefactor Member of The National Mining Hall of Fame

Responsibilities: Provided technical and financial expertise to all subsidiaries of the MHT organization with emphasis in advising on: metals and mining mergers and acquisitions, mining related risks in the development of new projects, structuring credit facilities, evaluating problem loans and determining project viability.Extensive domestic and foreign travel evaluating projects, mines, plants and refineries. On a global basis, coordinated calling programs on the major mining companies with a focus on the industries in the United States and Latin America; however, experience was not limited to these regions or commodities. Managed junior engineers and Bank trainees within the Metals and Mining Group.Responsible for analyzing the Industry Specialist Department’s budget and overhead structure to initiate cost savings.Technical and financial analysis of metals and mining projects; internal consultant to line officers, clients and credit committees on metals, coal and other extractive industries. Accompany lending officers on calls to major mining companies; perform supply/demand analyses on major commodities targeting more profitable areas for the Bank’s marketing plan. Monitored the metals and mining portfolio at MHT (facilities in excess of $4 billion) in order to evaluate areas of high exposure on a commodity basis. Attended in-house advance credit seminar on banking and finance.

Chief Engineer Montour #4 Mine: Supervised capital budget program, mine development plan and engineering staff; prepared mine equipment purchases and planning of mine expansion projects above and below ground.Regional Project Engineer: Organized and administered regional engineering projects of equipment selection, such as standardizing all geologic regional maps and isopachs; increased productivity through performance evaluation, ventilation analysis and haulage studies of shortwall, longwall and continuous mining systems; land acquisition analysis.Project Engineer Westland Mine: Analyzed and interpreted time studies of longwall development and room-and-pillar sections; coordination of surveying and water handling projects.

Pilot Plant Engineer: Reported directly to the president on testing of extraction columns, corrosion tests on wires and material used in Demisters, along with pressure drop testing of Demisters; design and drafting of Demisters, agglomerator and scrubber vessels and pressure extraction columns.
