I believe that everyone regardless of socio-economic situation, religion, ethnicity, or cultural background is entitled to a holistic education, which looks to the growth of the individual for the global community. Therefore, my educational philosophy encompasses the following points; foremost education should take on a student-centred focus based on Harvard’s Project Zero Cultures of Thinking, which is of essential importance. This approach helps to construct an environment of critical thinkers, who embrace exploration in their learning, and look to discover; through questioning and building off one another’s ideas and concepts. Real-world tasks are about knowing your students and being a facilitator of learning, rather than for learning; especially due to the wide and diverse populations we teach today. As teachers, we are educating global citizens: it is about meeting learning needs that are best for groups and individual students through consistent engagement in wider research, professional development to increase one’s practices for the betterment of students, and utilising the most effective tools for student engagement and positive growth mindset. A school form links with the school community, the wider community, and the global community where possible must partake in engagement within these areas to foster a deeper understanding of the world, enhance our knowledge, help and support one another, and to learn and grow as holistic individuals.
