Michael J. Cusick serves as President & CEO of the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation, the non-profit organization dedicated to fueling the borough's economy through innovative investments, community outreach, and business empowerment. Before heading the SIEDC, Cusick represented the 63rd District of the New York State Assembly for the past twenty years, including as Chair of the Energy Committee, and passed legislation that created the strongest-in-the-nation cybersecurity protection for New York’s energy grid. His office was also at the forefront of supporting youth through dating violence education and tackling the obesity epidemic borough-wide by organizing the “Total Fitness Challenge.”
Cusick brings a lifetime of experience advocating for Staten Islanders across different levels of government, contributing to sustainable policy, and supporting efforts to enhance Staten Island’s economy. In June of 2023, Governor Hochul appointed Cusick to the Board of Trustees for the New York State Power Authority. He also serves on the Empire State Development NYC Regional Economic Development Council and continues his public services as a board member for several organizations, including the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, American Irish Historical Society (NYC), Ocean Breeze Park Alliance, and the College of Staten Island Foundation. 
Cusick's invaluable contributions to the borough and beyond have been recognized on both local and international levels. He has been named to City & State New York's Staten Island Power 100 list, honored as a Belfast Ambassador by the City of Belfast, awarded the College of Staten Island President’s Medal in 2022, and inducted into the Msgr. Farrell High School Hall of Fame in 2007.
