Foster the development of MFCN, including developing membership and team expectations.Provide direct support to multiple teams charged with various MFCN responsibilities.Manage the flow of information across MFCN by developing and managing effective communication strategies.Maintain and participate in strategic communications planning and execution.Represent MFCN in communities across the state.Develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with partners, members, funders, other affinity groups, and leaders of other nonprofit, private and public sectors at the local and state levels. Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative is 50 congregations and counting, committed to ending homelessness in the Twin Cities. As Advocacy Coordinator, I helped build the capacity and engage the energy of Beacon's network of advocates in calling for solutions to end homelessness.

As HOME Line’s Public Policy Director, I coordinated the organization’s campaign for a Minnesota Tenant Bill of Rights. Victories during the 2010 Legislative Session are now saving Minnesota tenants millions of dollars through revisions to policies on tenant screening fees, late fees, attorney fees, and improperly withheld security deposits.

Through my stewardship, the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless increased its budget and organizational membership fourfold, began and maintained a robust internship and volunteer program, and increased its influence from a narrow focus on basic homeless services to broader mainstream supports that could more effectively prevent homelessness. I worked as the lead lobbyist which resulted in: permanent State funding for emergency shelter, quadrupling funding for the State’s homelessness prevention programs, a pilot program to form partnerships between homeless outreach services and police departments (rather than criminalizing homelessness), and greatly increasing the State’s commitment to transitional housing. However, I am most proud of our work to engage in direct organizing with homeless populations. ‘Of, by, and for the homeless’ local organizing sprouted up in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Duluth with the Coalition's support. Perhaps in its most exciting campaign, the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless organized with various homeless communities to bring nearly 1500 people experiencing homelessness to the polls in 2000.

I served as an organizer and policy advocate to address food security issues for low-income Minnesotans.

I joined Progressive Minnesota (now Take Action Minnesota) as a community organizer. I coordinated the organization’s grassroots efforts to pass two ballot initiatives in Minneapolis – voter approval for stadium spending and holding the police force accountable to the city’s human rights ordinance. Both initiatives passed with super-majority support from the city’s electorate.

I organized Minnesota college students for an increase in Minnesota's minimum wage. Our efforts helped keep the tip credit and training wage from weakening the final legislation. Over 10,000 students across Minnesota signed a petition for an increase in the minimum wage.
