I have been working in the craft beer industry for the past 5 years. Starting out working in a distribution warehouse, working my way through all the aspects of the day to day brewing process to my position now as a Brewer/ Cellarman. I have completed a craft beer and business essentials certificate program at Simon Fraser University in 2017 and have been increasing my knowledge in the brewing industry daily since then. I have mastered all packaging equipment used at my current job (4 head wild goose can filler, khs kegboy, khs rotary head bottle filler, khs rotary head can filler) including CIP procedures and maintenance. During my time at Steamworks I have completely re written all our standard operating procedures regarding CIP, as we have gone from 5400 HL capacity to 6600 HL capacity. I have a very strong basis of knowledge in regards to cellar work but am still learning everyday. I am fully confident in daily cellar tasks including filtration with either centrifuge or DE plate filters, transferring beers to secondary vessels, carbonating, dry hopping, and most importantly have a full understanding of the different CIP processes. I currently brew on our 4 vessel 50 HL brewhouse 5 times a week. I have learned some microbiology skills from my time at school as well as some training from our on site microbiologist, including sterile swabbing/plating, cell counts and viability tests. I am very passionate about the brewing industry and I have made it my personal goal to learn everything I can.
