In ADST 6-8, I worked the Art teacher to have our students create art with computer programming. In Web Development I did a project with the English teacher to have our students create Choose-your-own-adventure websites. And in Computer Programming, I worked the the Physics teachers to have our students work together to create physics simulations.

As a teacher, I develop lesson plans and carry them out, grade student work and manage student behavior on a daily basis. Working at STEAM has given me the freedom to be more innovative in the classroom and apply skills I gained as an engineer. I've done things like had Algebra students program video games to see their math in action and led a field trip to the University of Kentucky Computer Science Department to recruit for a course I started in Computational Thinking at our school. I constantly reflect on my performance and get to constantly work on growing as a professional in a very demanding occupation.

Spent the summer of 2016 teaching math and English (75% math (grades 7-9), 25% conversational English) in Thailand. Worked with classrooms of 30-40 students, all of which were English Language Learners. Prepared lessons and assessments, got to know students and spent time learning more about Thai language and culture.

Worked as a developer in embedded systems for multi-function laser printers. Worked in a Linux environment, using C/C++ and git. Also performed front end development work using JavaScript/CSS/HTML5 and Flash/ActionScript and used scripting languages such as Python and Perl for utility purposes. Worked as a member of several Agile/Scrum teams and led a class on Test Driven Development.

I led weekly labs, graded assignments, proctored tests, met with professors and other TAs, held office hours, and helped students with whatever else they needed to be successful in CS 115 (Intro to Computer Programming)

Performed the same duties as a Teaching Assistant as an undergraduate with half the amount of students.
