My approach to success in life was to figure our how to never stop learning, especially in a technical capacity. For college I attended Webb Institute in New York so I could learn not only about a variety of engineering disciplines, but also about the unique niche of ship design. By the time of graduation, I had four internships in the maritime industry, performing a variety of jobs in several locations.Following graduation, I was offered employment at Bruce S. Rosenblatt & Associates. For the sake of better understanding the practical side of production and design, I learned the design softwares ShipConstructor and CADMATIC. Picking up familiarity with these softwares allowed me gain an improved perspective regarding the workflow of those responsible for the details that actually get built on vessels. After a couple of years of detail design, I joined BSR’s engineering department as a Marine Engineer and Naval Architect. In my experience as a NA/ME, I’ve created structural designs, proven the compliance of shipboard auxiliary systems I’ve designed, participated in stability tests, and performed analyses of mechanical systems using first principles, among other things.As I move forward in my career, I’m hoping to continue building my skillset by learning FEMAP, Python, and other tools for understanding complex systems.
