Mike is an award-winning landscape architect and urban designer with over 30 years of experience in the design of the built environment, with a specific focus in highly urbanized areas. He serves as a Senior Associate in SMMA's Providence office, overseeing business development and expansion of SMMA's Rhode Island market. He also utilizes his extensive project direction and multi-disciplinary project team coordination experience to manage and provide guidance on planning and site design projects of all types in both the Providence and Cambridge offices.His portfolio of built projects encompasses the full breadth of a landscape architects' abilities- small and large-scale parks, streetscapes and public plazas, housing, corporate and institutional campuses, commercial and retail centers, open space preservation, and historic landscape restoration. His extensive experience working with private developers, state and municipal agencies, building committees, owner’s project managers, architects, engineers, artists, and other allied design professionals enables him to assume an important leadership role in the coordination and execution of complex multi-disciplinary design projects.Mike currently serves as Chair of the Rhode Island Board of Examiners of Landscape Architects, and was a member of the 2020 Pi II class at Leadership Rhode Island. He is a member and Past President of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and is also actively involved in the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, the Providence Foundation, the Harvard Club of Rhode Island, Grow Smart RI, and DESIGNxRI.Mike is a CLARB Certified Landscape Architect registered to practice in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey.
