I am a partner in our Sydney office working in the area of insurance, with particular expertise in general liability, professional indemnity, and insurance.I act for insurers and their insureds, particularly in the local government sphere, as well as for other industry participants such as underwriters. I have had a number of cases before the High Court of Australia; those matters established precedents that have contributed to a reduction in claim numbers. I have also acted in many matters concerning the Civil Liability Act 2002 (NSW), setting the benchmark for the application of that legislation. I have assisted in the review of various councils’ processes and procedures, with a particular emphasis on risk management.I have been recognised as a leading insurance lawyer by Chambers Global from 2010 to date and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific from 2013 to date. I regularly deliver presentations to legal audiences, local government bodies and generally, particularly in relation to developing case law, legislation and policies and procedures relevant to risk management. I have also been selected by my peers to be included in the 2017 Australian Financial Review’s Best Lawyers in Australia list for Insurance Law and have appeared on this list since 2012.
