Michael is a results orientated, self-starter who began his career in 1988 as a trainee dealer on the money market at First National Bank. In the years after FNB Michael took on various challenging ventures, always with a sales aptitude and the majority of these ventures were on the basis of a percentage remuneration of gross profit that was generated by his sales successes. In 2001 Michael was appointed as General Manager at Master Drive (a division of Avis Fleet Services), undertaking the task of restructuring a loss making company – to a break even company Michael was then appointed as a General Manager for Avis Fleet Services where he managed a large sales team accountable for an asset base of over R800 million. Michael joined Hall Longmore (a division of Murray & Roberts) in 2010 as the Sales and Marketing Executive, reporting into the Managing Director and serving on the Hall Longmore Board. After M&R made the decision to sell the entire business to one purchaser. Michael did not join the new owners of the company.After a 10 month period as the GM-Commercial Sales South Africa for Altech Netstar Michael decided to back into the steel industry. Michael’s entrepreneurial spirit and his 27 years in sales and general management of small medium and large businesses gave Michael the ability to develop long term profitable business relationships in the steel industry over a short period of time. His worldwide insight into the steel pipe industry as well as his marketing knowledge in the engineering sector has given Michael the insight to develop new businesses in this difficult industry in South Africa. In 2014 Michael started SPI Corrosion Solutions, initially as a steel pipe import business, however this business is now purely focused on marketing international brands into the Southern Africa Market. SPI currently has 4 employees and markets 6 international Brands to this market. All these brands are focused on Corrosion protection, SPI also retrains a large stock holding of these products in South Africa. BRANDS - Canusa-CPS, Polyken, EasyQote, Anodeflex, Dhatec and MPB.In 2017, Together with Joelene Lindner Michael started SPS Corrosion Protect. SPS has a permanent staff structure of 47 employees, offering Sand Blasting , Painting, wrapping and rubber lining services to the industrial, mining and steel pipe industries.
