Lifelong naturalist. Spending a disproportionate (yet appropriate) amount of time growing up in the outdoors, some of my earliest reading endeavors were field guides and tomes about prehistoric life. Ever since the time when my age was measured in single digits, I've been equally comfortable on the land and on/in the water...okay, maybe even more so on, around, and in the water. So where did this lead me in my adult life...Educationally, as listed in the appropriate section here (plus some notable coursework in film, literature, folklore, and death & dying).Occupationally (and on a volunteer basis), into the realms of animal care & rehabilitation, horticulture, entertainment, event coordination (and ALL that entails, including planning, programming, promoting, and operating events with attendance from the double digits to the thousands), agriculture, and state park naturalist, the latter two of which I do now. Personally, into the realms of animal care, adventure, agriculture, human culture & arts, scuba diving, health, and well-being. Touching on a bit of all of that, I love certifications and am always looking to add more to the ol' repertoire. - PADI-certified open water, advanced open water, and dry suit diver- ODNR-certified canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard instructor- Ohio Boating Education Course certified- Certified Ohio Boating Education Course instructor- American Red Cross-certified in adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AEDOther bits: - Research included for the 2007 ASA, CSSA, SSSA International Annual Meeting agenda on the effects of temperature on soil leachates - Guest speaking & presenting at a variety of eventsWith only 2600 characters available, this is a brief overview.
