As a Leading Hand (LH/LS) Underwater Warfare Specialist in the Royal Navy. My job is to supervise within an operations room as an Operations Room Supervisor, to manage a team within the operations room, teach AB Junior Rates new systems, skills and help with future development. Ensure all preparations are made for serials and upcoming operations, establish communications with other units, Ships, Aircraft and Submarines and liaise information to and from these units, also as Sonar Controller I will supervise a small team analysing subsurface contacts using advanced visual and acoustic Analysis. Then advising the command and presenting my findings to them. Having served on HMS Lancaster, HMS Kent, HMS St Albans and shore establishments.Other duties include:• Using Sonar to detect Submarines and analyse their data using advanced Analytical skills, Hydrographic and Bathymetric data.• ORS, Operations Room Supervisor, Radar, using and supervising the radar picture using Navigational, Medium range and Long range radar, plotting, analysing and interrogating information then taking the appropriate actions and AIS trained. • QM, quartermaster on the bridge as helmsman (steering the ship) and reacting to Machinery and steering gear emergencies, where Clear Communication is key, in a fast-paced environment.• Advanced Firefighting, attack party, attack BA (breathing apparatus), support party Team leader, 5 man team in full firefighting gear. Deal with smoke clearance, boundary cooling, BA board to monitor BA set levels. Maintain and check equipment.• Roster righter for Duties undertaken by personnel and daily working hours for the BM gangway roster, managing 30 personnel.
