As a former golf professional and now a self employed artist, my goal is to paint golf landscapes, still life, general landscapes or Iconography on a commission basis for clients interested in a 19th century style that emphasises the "romantic" or "prosaic" aspects of fine art. In golf landscapes, I endeavor for complete accuracy in depicting the architectural aspects of any golf hole, I also most happily employ a liberal sense of "artistic license" in rendering the time of day, weather and season in the work. Therefore, while I emphatically attempt to avoid any illustrative or commercial look to the painting, my hope is to produce a faithful representation of the given architecture in an appealing mood and artistic setting. Hopefully, the result is fine art that has a lasting effect on the viewer.

ArtistSelf Employed 1998 - PresentAnderson, IndianaI specialize in golf landscape painting (although the profile photo is an image of an oil/canvas titled "The Elevation of the Cross, after Peter Paul Rubens, 1530"), but also produce landscapes, still life and obviously, iconography in oil on both canvas and panel. I have had "One Man" shows at both the USGA Museum and The World Golf Hall of Fame. With Geoff Shackelford, I co-authored "The Art of Golf Design" and also provided the artwork for his book, "The Golden Age of Golf Design." My golf landscapes have appeared numerous times as covers for golf books (notably, Daniel Wexler's "Missing Links" and "Lost Links"), magazines and periodicals including Golf World's "The Arts Issue" (November 2010) which featured my work in Jeff Silverman's title article. Much of my output may be viewed at michealgmillerfineart.net, golfclubatlas.com. and Yessy.com. All paintings are also available as prints on paper or as "artist enhanced" giclees on canvas. I welcome commissions which can usually be produced (depending on the size) in 3 to 6 weeks.
