VFA-86 is a U.S. Navy operational Strike Fighter Squadron flying F/A-18E Super Hornet aircraft, projecting Naval Airpower from nuclear-powered aircraft carriers deployed across the globe. In addition to responsibilities as a fighter pilot and combat strike lead, I served as the Operations Officer responsible for an annual budget of $15.3M, and as the Maintenance Officer responsible for leading 173 Sailors in the maintenance and repair of 12 squadron aircraft (totaling $1.2B in assets) during a combat deployment. During this time, VFA-86 was recognized as the top Super Hornet squadron in the United States Navy with both the 2016 Commander, Naval Air Forces Aviation Battle Efficiency Award, and the RADM C. Wade McClusky Award.

Led Samsara's Telematics Product Group (NYSE: IOT) scaling it into a $100M+ ARR business in less than 36 months. Responsibilities spanned vehicle-based industrial-grade IoT hardware and accessories, and both cloud and mobile-based applications.

The Carrier Suitability Department at VX-23 is responsible for the developmental test and evaluation of all technology related to the launch and recovery of aircraft from U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. During this time, I managed a budget of $8.3M across six cross-functional teams comprised of over 300 engineers, test pilots, and technicians while leading a number of high-profile advanced technology development projects, including:• Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) Aircraft Compatibility Test program. Leadership resulted in the team receiving the 2014 Naval Air Systems Command Edward H. Heinemann Award for the identification of five critical deficiencies affecting the overall readiness of the USS Gerald R Ford (CVN 78). Findings reported to the House Armed Services Committee.• Precision Landing Mode (PLM) flight control laws and HUD symbology for the F/A-18 E/F and EA-18G. Guided the design, development, implementation, and test of a groundbreaking set of technologies which improved accuracy in aircraft carrier landings by more than 50%, resulting in a projected cost savings of over $86.7M per year for the United States Navy. Drove program progression from simulator prototype to fleet-wide release in less than two years. Work resulted in the team receiving the 2015 Department of the Navy Test and Evaluation Test Team of the Year Award, and nomination for an Aviation Week Laureate Award in Technology in 2014, in addition to various other industry and professional accolades.• Lead Test Pilot and Landing Signal Officer for the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS), a differential GPS-based precision approach capability.• Landing Signal Officer for the carrier suitability flight test of both the F-35C Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter and the X-47B Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle – Carrier Demonstration (UCAS-D).

While pursuing a graduate degree, led the design and development of an enterprise-grade distributed database system and mobile app to track and report on pilot performance in aircraft carrier landings as part of a $1.2M competitive grant awarded by the Office of Naval Research. Awarded a patent, and subsequently licensed the system for deployment across the United States Navy.

VFA-115 is an operational Strike Fighter Squadron flying F/A-18E Super Hornet aircraft. Period also includes Officer Candidate School, Basic Flight School, Advanced Flight School, and initial F/A-18 training. As Avionics and Armament Division Manager, I was responsible for personnel management, training, quality assurance, and operational planning for a division of 63 technicians and $1.4M in assets. Served two combat deployments to Afghanistan, and oversaw the logistics of relocating VFA-115 from Lemoore, CA to Atsugi, Japan.

Appointed directly by the Permanent Secretary for Education in Bermuda as a technical advisor to the Bermudian Ministry of Education where I served as a liaison between Stanford University and the Bermudian Government.
