The Integrated Molecular & Cell Science (IMCS) laboratory, setup in 2013, is a research laboratory supporting cancer and pathology/technology innovations for both early phase discovery research and translational development.Based within the Department of Tissue & Energy, within the Division of Surgery & Interventional Science, IMCS utilises in house expertise in immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridisation and image quantification coupled with genomic and proteomic next generation sequencing. The laboratory works in synergy with the translational gastroenterology, urology and breast cancer groups within the department, translating R&D activities such as novel transcriptomic biomarker discovery to support antibody and small molecule targeted therapeutic strategies.The laboratory utilises high throughput Bond (Leica) and Benchmark (Roche) series of high throughput automated immunostainers and iScan image quantitation (Roche) together with in house developed genomic and proteomic informatics for integrated data handling and analysis.

Lead Biomedical Scientist & Clinical Services Manager at UCL Advanced Diagnostics (UCL-AD). UCL-AD is the immunohistochemistry, in situ and molecular diagnostics service arm of UCL's Cancer Institute and a bridge between the Cancer Institute and University College Hospitals NHS Trust (UCLH). It is also the host laboratory for UKNEQAS ICC & ISH.The unit is an 18 strong team of scientific and administrative staff providing accredited immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, molecular and digital pathology services throughout the UK and overseas. Testing in the range of 116,000 immunohistochemistry, 1500 in situ and 2000 molecular diagnostic tests per year for a whole spectrum of diseases.

Involvement in developing companion diagnostics: system design, verification, validation under GLP/GCP compliance. Highlights include co-ordination of external clinical evaluations ranging from small local feasibility studies through to multi-site, multi-national GLP/GCP clinical trials to support global product claims. Together with the running of in-house companion diagnostics training programs for both internal technical, sales & support, distributors and customers.Working with innovations/business development teams and I have been involved in assessing new technologies from academia/startup and their potential application in the healthcare environment as well consideration for potential business integration.
