Bio (Michael Gilchrist)Michael Gilchrist was born on August 6, 1974 in Montgomery, Al. He is the son of Evelyn Jackson andPastor George Gilchrist Jr. He was a member of the United States Air Force National Guard from1999-2005 for the 117 th Air refueling wing (Birmingham, Al), and the 147 Ellington Field(Houston, Tx) . He graduated from Alabama Agriculture and Mechanical University located inHuntsville, Al in the spring of 2003 with bachelors in the area of special education/collaborative teacher. He then moved to Houston, Tx in 2003 to begin his career as a publicschool teacher at Arizona Fleming Elementary school. In 2005 he began working for the LamarConsolidated school district. Michael worked as a special education teacher at BowieElementary school from 2005-2009 as a behavior teacher. He was then promoted to districtbehavior interventionist from 2009 to 2011 as a coordinator for 13 schools. In the fall of 2011he worked as a special education Jr. High teacher and coached 7th and 8th grade football, andgirl’s track and field for two school years. In 2014, Michael transferred to Katy independentschool district, and worked as a science teacher for the behavior transition program located atRaines High school alternative learning center. Michael earned his Master Degrees in Theology(2007), and Education Administration (2009) degrees from Houston Baptist University. From 2016 until 2018 he served as Assistant Principal for Memorial Parkway Elementary (Katy ISD) where he initiated the STEAM Robotics and afterschool social skills program during the 2017-18 school year. Michael is Currently serving his 3rd year as the 9th grade assistant principal for Paetow High school located in Katy, Tx. Michael has one child, Leah Grace Gilchrist who was born in September of 2012. Michael has been deeply involved with Christian ministries in the areas of brotherhood choir, and youth ministries at First Missionary Baptist church Huntsville, AL (1997-2003), ResurrectionMissionary Baptist Church ministries (2004-2011 & 2013-2015), Fallbrook Community Church(2011-2014) prison ministries, and currently attends 2 nd Baptist Church located in Katy, Tx.He is a member of The Texas Teacher association and has also served as a coordinator trainerfor the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo speaker’s committee for 3 years. He has a passionfor motivating and encouraging youth from all ages!
