Michael Gormley is the Founder/Executive Director of Blast N Scrap. Known by many as Blasti, he conceived of the community project to fill a gap in the Fort Collins music scene, creating a donation based space for young people to perform safely in an environment that is healthy, progressive, inclusive, and supportive. Originally based in a second hand art supply store. the project grew to form up-cycling creative programs Scrapyard Garb (sustainable screen printing) & Craft N Act Community Theatre. As the 501(c)3 grew, programs Scrapped Magazine (gateway to published work) Grrrls Scrap Back (femme, femme identifying, trans, non-binary workshop), The B42s (film development), Scrappy Tracking (learn to produce a song in reel time), & BlasTacks Marketing soon followed. His foray into fundraising began w/ Blast N Scrap’s 1st initiative, Cape Pals, which coordinates youth volunteer projects & makes capes to raise money & awareness for community causes. In 2020 he organized Sunny Bunny Recovery - a support group for fan’s of the band Ween. In 2021, by the good graces of Ween’s management, was able to secure 2 guest list spots for the organization to setup a table within concert grounds to provide traction for this in recovery in an otherwise slippery environment. After working with Mishawaka for a year, organizing fundraisers at their Live on the Lanes venues, 2023 he accepted the position of Manager of Culture & Equity for the legendary event space.Cap Blast also plays guitar, harmonica, & sings in the band CB & the G Jeez, which transposes punk rock covers into Country BlueGrass Blues, as well as CB’s Rat10 which features the lineup playing original content.
