Partnering in Prevention is a nationwide collective impact effort that works through national networks of youth-serving organizations to mobilize communities to take action that can stop child sexual abuse. Originally convened by The Redwoods Group Foundation in 2010, our growing partner network now includes representatives from national youth serving organizations across the USA.. Together, we work to increase preventive action and awareness throughout communities, in order to help build a movement that is big enough to match the size of this massive problem. The Redwoods Group Foundation is a 501(c)3 backbone organization that grew out of the insurance industry. Our founding company, The Redwoods Group, is a mission-driven certified B Corporation that insures YMCAs, JCCs and resident camps, and uses insights from its data to help them run safer programs. In its line of work, the business investigates over 300 incidents of child sexual abuse annually. Those incidents often demonstrate how a lack of awareness allows sexual abuse to happen, as caring adults will observe warning signs without recognizing their importance in time to protect children. Our Foundation brought together local YMCA leaders and Darkness to Light to play complementary roles in building a prevention movement that mobilizes communities to protect children. Darkness to Light has powerful, evidence-informed prevention content, and YMCAs have immense reach, serving over 10,000 communities in the US. To date, we have catalyzed preventive action in over 240 communities across 24 states, and have collectively trained over 90,000 adults in Stewards of Children.

The YMCA of Delaware’s diverse programs serve one out of every four households in Delaware, 100,000 program participants with 80,000 members. The YMCA is a charitable not-for-profit organization supported by over 5,200 individual donors awarding more than $3.5M in financial assistance per year. Under my leadership the Y grew from $7M to a vibrant $37M operation. I was responsible for $84M in capital acquisitions, a $17.5M tax credit renovation in downtown Wilmington, 12 new swimming pools and 7 wellness centers, > $30M in charitable support in the last decade.
