I’m Founder and Principal at Genesg, a sustainability advisory practice supporting responsible development of mining projects. I bring international geology, legal, and project evaluation expertise and a unique cross-organizational perspective acquired from working in the mining and construction industries to help exploration and mining companies with governance, strategy development and big-bet decision making. After spending many years of my life and career unaware that I was afflicted with spasmodic dysphonia I know what it feels like to be anxious about speaking up. My secret sauce is my empathy for and ability to create safe places to encourage people to share ideas and participate in solving problems. I’ve applied my collaborative approach to:• Complete exploration and resource development drilling programs and manage mining operations in different countries;• Design and roll out an award-winning compliance management system recognized by Rio Tinto's CEO;• Negotiate business interruption insurance claim settlements following a series of extreme weather events; • Prepare financial models to support big-bet decisions for a $6B mining operation;• Participate in legal proceedings relating to license to operate. I’ve also negotiated the approval from and managed co-participation of 20 of Canada’s largest oil & gas companies in a linear infrastructure project, navigating ice roads and Caribou Protection Plan constraints.
