Director of PROACT (Provider Response Organization for Addiction Care and Treatment) a nonprofit, joint effort led by Cabell Huntington Hospital, Marshall Health and St. Mary’s Medical Center, in partnership with Valley Health and Thomas Health System.

Developed syllabus and overall course structure for on-campus and eCampus students. Provide instruction, review and grade assignments and provide feedback to students.

Supervise addiction treatment services in outpatient clinics in three counties as part of a Community Mental Health Center. Responsible for supervision of direct line staff; program development; ensuring program compliance with all federal, state, and contractual guidelines; and providing direct service to a caseload of individuals receiving addiction treatment. Additional duties include supervising DUI services for a ten-county region.

Teach courses in addiction for MSU’s Social Work Department, both in-person as well as part of distance learning program. Provide instruction, review and grade assignments and provide feedback to students.

Supervised all Behavioral Health services offered by the hospital. Responsible for daily operations of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services as well as for service line development of Behavioral Health services including physician recruitment, program development and budget development. Served on hospital’s administrative team including the Ethics Panel and the Emergency Management Team. Worked with the Kentucky Hospital Association’s Psych/CD Panel as well as the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky’s Advisory Panel.

Supervised all clinical staff providing mental health and addiction treatment services offered by the hospital’s Behavioral Health Center as well as implementing the hospital’s Employee Assistance Program and DUI services. Also provided direct services to individual patients in both inpatient and outpatient treatment for the mental health and addiction programs.

Supervised intensive outpatient substance abuse services. Provided supervision for outpatient staff and direct service, both group and individual, to clientele attending outpatient program. Responsible for marketing and program development.

Provided initial screening and assessment of all new referrals for mental health and addiction services. Provided appropriate referral for individuals entering treatment, formulated treatment plans and administered individual and group therapy to meet goals of plan. Provided Crisis intervention services both face to face and via telephone to consumers in need.

Responsible for the daily operations and program development for outpatient and residential substance abuse treatment programs. Supervised all clinical and residential staff. Administered operating budget and solicited and supervised all program contracts.

Provided direct care and maintained a caseload of individuals participating in a residential substance abuse treatment program consisting of individual psychotherapy; psycho-educational and therapy group work; treatment planning, discharge planning and case management services.

Responsible for daily operation of 24 hour Crisis service. Duties included staff scheduling, compilation of resource information, tracking of regional involuntary hospitalizations and crisis intervention services to individuals in need. Also functioned as daytime mobile crisis worker responding to crises within the community when requested to do so by various local agencies.

Provided a first contact for individuals interested in agency services including telephone and face to face crisis psychotherapy and assessments; consultation for internal programs; information and referral to various agencies and programs; and facilitated admissions to local hospitals and Pathways' Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). Also, responded to community crises as requested by police, center clients, and community representatives.

Provided counseling and monitoring to individuals admitted to a residential, non-medical detoxification unit due to substance abuse. Assessed individuals for withdrawal symptoms and appropriateness for admission into Withdrawal Unit, provided telephone and face to face intervention services, and conducted both group and individual psychotherapy sessions.
