Responsible for managing biomarker and translational strategies in metabolic disease, chronic kidney disease, and acute kidney injury. Member of program teams and Compound Development Teams and support early clinical development strategy. Responsible for leading multiple collaborations with academic investigators and external companies in support of biomarker and translational research. Responsible for the development program specific biomarker strategies including identification and validation of assays and coordination of best practices. Responsible for the application of genomic, proteomic and metabolomic technologies for identification and development of novel biomarkers to enable the clinical development of the right drugs, at the right dose, for the right patients. Developed biomarker and translational strategies for diabetes and obesity compounds in early clinical development. Led Biomarker Working Groups and member of the Early Clincial Research Teams. Responsible for the application of genetic, genomic, proteomic and metabolomic technologies for identification and development of novel biomarkers to enable the clinical development of the right drugs, at the right dose, for the right patients. Supported late Discovery programs and developed biomarker and translational strategies.

Performed translational research in diabetes and obesity drug development. Co-led Early Clinical Development Teams and responsible for developing early clinical biomarker strategies. Developed external research collaborations with key leaders in diabetes and obesity with primary focus on clinical biomarkers and translational research.

Team Leader of Metabolic Disease & CNS Diseases Group. Provided overall leadership and direction of an in vivo pharmacology group in support of diabetes, obesity and dyslipidemia programs. Team Leader for a multidisciplinary Systems Biology and Translational Medicine approach in type 2 diabetes designed to better understand disease and drug response(s) in both humans and animal models, and to identify new targets and biomarkers of disease and drug efficacy.

Postdoctoral research aimed at understanding how peripheral signals communicate with the brain to regulate sleep, appetite, and body temperature. Also studied the role of cytokines in sickness behaviour and pain, and the effects of stress on the immune system.
