Responsible for the application of genomic, proteomic and metabolomic technologies for identification and development of novel biomarkers to enable the clinical development of the right drugs, at the right dose, for the right patients. Team Leader of Metabolic Disease & CNS Diseases Group. Provided overall leadership and direction of an in vivo pharmacology group in support of diabetes, obesity and dyslipidemia programs. Team Leader for a multidisciplinary Systems Biology and Translational Medicine approach in type 2 diabetes designed to better understand disease and drug response(s) in both humans and animal models, and to identify new targets and biomarkers of disease and drug efficacy.

Postdoctoral research aimed at understanding how peripheral signals communicate with the brain to regulate sleep, appetite, and body temperature. Also studied the role of cytokines in sickness behaviour and pain, and the effects of stress on the immune system.
