Having joined the RAF in 1978 as an Assistant Air Traffic Controller I worked my way through the ranks to Sgt before successfully completing the Joint Air Traffic Controller's Course (Top student) in March 1989. Following tours at Gutersloh, Finningley and Linton-on-Ouse, I was selected for and completed commissioning at Cranwell in July 2001. Further tours followed at Linton-on-Ouse, LATCC(Mil), West Drayton, ATM STANEVAL and as SATCO Cosford, all of which were as Local Examination Officer. From July 2012 to Jan 2013 I was ATC Flight Safety Officer and Local Examination Officer at Bastion and then subsequently posted to RAF Gibraltar as Air Safety and Assurance Officer (similar to a Flight Safety Officer and Officer Commanding Operations) where I intend to serve until summer 2014. Have been employed as Instructor ( now trainer) at the School of Air Operations Control at RAF Shawbury since Sep 2014 and fully enjoy my role. Very keen to remain in this type of employment for the foreseeable future, but would also enjoy safety assurance and management should that type of employment arise. Nevertheless, with many years of managerial experience, I am confident I could succeed in any suitable associated employment.
