Accountable for managing the growth and development of VDM Construction - Eastern Operations within Queensland. • Was appointed to VDM Construction’s Senior Leadership Team based in the Brisbane head Office, reporting directly to the Executive General Manager.• Developed the Business Pursuit Strategy for growth between 2012 and 2014. • Facilitated the winning of over $60m worth of projects in 2013.• Grew the business profile into several new regions within Queensland. • Maintain a strong commercial focus on project delivery, from tender phase to completion. • Developed a production and cost management system to monitor construction progress on all projects on a daily basis from the Head Office. The management tool is fundamental for tracking budget vs actual costs and making timely, informed decisions for optimizing resource allocations, production efficiencies and cost-to-complete analysis. • Strong client relationships have been the foundation for achieving growth targets and expanding the business into new Regions and diverse market sectors.• Developed strategic alliances with key service providers, including suppliers and sub-contractors, on a State-wide and Regional basis. These mutually beneficial relationships have been the difference between winning or losing contracts. Responsible for the completion of a state-of-the-art Water Treatment Plant ($24M) for the Eurobodalla Shire Council.• Applied full array of construction and general management skills to facilitate the successful completion of this project.• Strong contractual knowledge applied to negotiate additional variations with a ‘variations averse’ client.• Developed very good working relationship with client representatives and subcontractors, who were pivotal in achieving contract milestones. • Used every diplomatic ploy to effectively manage a strong and ‘militant’ Union contingent on site, preventing any major disruption to the works and averted any Legal action being taken against Water Infrastructure Group.• High level of client satisfaction throughout this project.
