Michael Heibel is a Consulting Engineer and Technical Program Manager for the Westinghouse Digital and Innovation Division. Mr. Heibel received his B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1980, and his MSE in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh in 2000. He is currently enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering PhD program at the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Heibel is a Consulting Engineer of the Westinghouse Electric Company with over 42 years of commercial nuclear power experience, specializing in reactor physics, reactor power distribution measurement methods, radiation measurement instrumentation, and radioisotope production. He is currently responsible for managing the development of advanced methods and nuclear technology for use by the commercial nuclear power and medical radioisotope industry.Mr. Heibel is principal or co-inventor of over 50 U.S. patents, and has authored numerous papers for OECD, American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), and American Nuclear Society (ANS) journals and conferences. He is currently a member of the ANS Isotopes and Radiation Division Executive Committee.
