My responsibilities as Assistant Coach include, but are not limited to: Working side-by-side with players, developing both off-ice and on-ice skills; Creating and implementing off-ice and on-ice practice plans; Breaking down film to improve player performance and prepare for upcoming games; Working closely with the GM to assist in making trade decisions, evaluating players, and scouting; Organizing and maintaining a budget; Working closely and staying in contact with both NHL Player Development Coaches and Scouts to better prepare players for professional and collegiate opportunities; Conducting both team and one-on-one meetings with players to discuss concerns, performance, character, and future goals; Creating both weekly itineraries for both home and away games, ensuring that travel, food and hotel accommodations are properly established; Recruiting and scouting new players.

We had a lengthy 60 game schedule, plus playoffs. My responsibilities as Assistant Coach included: Developing players on and off of the ice; Creating and implementing practice plans; Maintaining the flow of practice by working with and overseeing players at their level; Clipping and breaking down all team and pre-scout video using STEVA Hockey PRO and InStat Hockey Scout; Conducting team and personal player meetings to discuss video performance; Running all off-ice workouts such as weight training lifts, cardio and footwork; Creating away game itineraries and ensuring that travel, food and hotel stay are properly established; Recruiting and scouting new players.

This job and title that I hold for the Lone Star Brahmas North American Hockey League, Junior Hockey Tier II team. My first responsibility for this job was creating an off season training program over the summer, which included weight training lifts, cardio, and my own development of a Speed and Agility workouts. During the seasonal play, I assemble and instruct the team through two lift sessions, one speed/agility workout, and schedule one yoga session a week.

We have a lengthy schedule with 47 games, plusplayoffs. Traveling all over the US for games and competitions. The coaching sideof this includes planning and directing practices/training for both on ice and off iceactivity. Constantly assessing player’s skill levels and helping improve anddevelop their game to prepare them for collegiate sports. I spend hours a weekbreaking down film, evaluating own and opposition team capabilities to determinegame strategy. Always motivating my players through times of ease and in timesof adversity. This job also includes responsibilities in recruiting and scouting newplayers to join the club, participating in discussions with other hockey clubs to sellor trade players, along with player contract agreements, travel arrangements,budgeting proper travel expenses, hotel stay, meals on the road, directions to andfrom points of interests for travel.

This job allowed me to develop younger hockey players and prepare themfor the next level of hockey—junior level. Hockey is one of my passions, and thisparticular job is a pleasure because it allows me to help these younger hockeyplayers battle for the state and national titles. Responsibilities for this job includeassisting the head coach in leading the team, planning and executing practices,and passing my knowledge and love for the game to the younger generation.
