Michael is a mechanical engineer with over 30 years of engineering and engineering safety experience on major engineering projects, especially those relating to railway engineering. Commencing as an apprentice, Michael has carried out rolling stock maintenance, engineering design drafting, design, RAM and Safety Engineering for some of the major railway infrastructure and rolling stock projects implemented recently including the Northern Sydney Rail Corridor Upgrade, the NSW Digital Train Radio implementation, the Waratah Rolling Stock PPP Project, the Tangara Technology Upgrade and the New Intercity Fleet Rolling Stock project. Michael has developed Engineering Safety programs, RAM management programs and developed the Safety Assurance argument and manged the configuration stage gate process for these projects. Michael has been an independent safety assessor for software developed under EN50128 for projects in Victoria, Singapore and China. Michael has been the Safety and Accreditation Manager for a major freight operator, obtaining Rail Safety Accreditation from the Rail Regulator in 4 states of Australia. Michael holds a bachelor of mechanical engineering and has been qualified to the level of train controller in NSW in the past.
