Hardware and software integration of the electrical, mechanical and fluidic systems for the Xaar 5601 printhead. My role encompasses systems engineering, software development, failure analysis, customer demonstrations and image analysis. I developed projects involving image recognition and acoustic screening.

Developed my materials research skills, working to improve the thin film PZT used to drive the Xaar 5601. I was able to hone my materials analysis skills, and help develop new characterisation techniques - as well as translate scientific discoveries into lifetime improvements for our product.Over the course of the year, I improved my understanding of materials characterisation tools and techniques, as well as training to become proficient in the use of a top-of-the-range Scanning Electron Microscope and Focussed Ion Beam system, including EDS analysis (Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy).

My first position after graduation, I was able to find a role which made use of both my academic skills, as well as developing my understanding of how science and technology are evolved in a business environment.I started off by balanced some modelling and simulation work, with experimental research. Some examples of my work were:- Building a print quality simulator, to inform the architecture of new products- Collaborating with external research institutes, presented a joint paper at NIP 2013- Developing prototype technology, to deliver internal and external demonstrations to stakeholders

Adapted existing image registration software to identify plaque build-up in the carotid artery - assisting a study into atherosclerosis.Based in the MRIS department of Addenbrookes Hospital.Developed a working knowledge of MATLAB during the project.Liased with research doctors to specialize features.Project successfully delivered the require software, leading to a study into one of the possible causes of atherosclerosis.

Contracted to develop a prototype flood sensor and report for Karis Homes Ltd, a subsidiary of SEHTA.Working out of the laboratories at Portsmouth University with my colleague.Tested a range of solutions discussed in the report.Produced a working prototype to specifications, and a written report detailing our recommendations.
