My career spans 40 yrs in education/organization leadership, real property development, community planning, business training, and economic forecasting including executive posts for major universities, municipalities, and regional/state government. I have successfully enjoined several multi-interest partnerships to complete regional & large-scale projects. Prior to becoming Fort Ord Reuse Authority Executive Officer in 1997, I served as Executive Assistant to the Chancellor and Director of Community Planning and Land Development for the University of California Santa Cruz.In the 1980s I served as Deputy Director and Century Freeway Executive Director in the CA Department of Housing and Community Development and Project Manager for the Pasadena Redevelopment Agency. In the 1970s, I was Executive Director of the Southern California Urban Coalition, Deputy Director of the Pasadena Urban Coalition, and Assistant Dean/Director for University of California Santa Barbara's Office of Veterans’ Affairs. I have testified before US Congress and CA State Legislature many times and periodically written columns for local periodicals and articles for regional and national publications.I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and grew up in Pasadena, California. I have a Bachelors degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara (1973) and a Masters degree from Occidental College (1976), graduating from the CORO Foundation Fellowship Program that same year. In 2008, I represented the State of California on the National Governors Association “Federal Facilities Environmental Working Group” and from 2002 - 2012 served as Board member of the Association of Defense Communities (President/2007-2010). The Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce recognized my service in awarding me the 2012 Ruth Vreeland Public Official of the Year.
