Michael Iliff is Principal Trombonist for the Thornton Community Band. After picking up trombone again in 2011, Michael played with Concert Bands, a Community Orchestra, Funk, Jazz, and Big Bands. He has performed in festivals, a musical theatre production, and at the Mercury Cafe, Herman’s Hideaway, Herb’s Jazz & Blues, Teddy’s, El Chapultepec, and Dazzle.

Michael had a storied history in the Medical Device Industry. He developed several disposable class II medical devices & processes, and was awarded International and United States Patents. This successful career was cut short, however, due to injuries from a nearly fatal auto accident, many subsequent surgeries, followed by stage IV colon cancer. Thanks to additional operations, chemotherapy, and the grace of God, he has been cancer free since 2008 and is tougher now than ever before. His activities and interests are in music and art, technical studies and all things outdoors. Michael is divorced, lives in Denver, and has two grown sons.
