Responsible for oversight of all behavioral health interventions within the Department. This includes supervising Behavior Services Unit (BSU), that provides all mental health, substance use disorder, and sex offender treatment; and the CAP unit, providing all psychological assessments for youth committed to the Department. Supervision also includes the aggression management program and other related intervention services provided by BSU; and behavior analysts and specialists with creating/implementing/managing facility programs including PBIS and other related clinical services. Duties also include collaboration and consultation with other divisions and sections within the Department regarding behavioral health services (i.e. CPP's, detention centers).

Provide assistance to Treatment Director of CAP/BSU on administrative tasks and special projects.

New Kent, Va

Responsible for developing and supervising all non-medical clinical services at a 110 bed hospital for children and youth with complex medical and behavioral issues. This includes 94 beds on the medical side that addresses debilitating medical conditions including - but not restricted to - eating disorders (ie. anorexia, bulimia, obesity), diabetes, brain trauma, developmental disorders and autism spectrum disorders; and all clinical programming and supervision of the 16 psychiatric residential treatment facility beds for adolescents. Supervision also includes all psychological and psychotherapy services, educational services (school principal and teachers), and adjunct therapeutic services (occupational, speech, recreational and physical therapists).

Baltimore, Maryland Area

Responsible for all behavioral health services for youth in the Department’s care for the state of Maryland. This includes supervising all clinical services and staff including mental health, substance abuse, behavioral programming, victim services and evidence-based services in community offices, detention centers, DJS committed facilities, and oversight of contracted vendor BH services. Overview and monitoring of behavioral health contracts, behavioral health policy and procedure development and implementation, and represent the Department through interface with other agencies and committees.

Beaumont, Va

Administrative and supervisory responsibilities of an almost 300 bed juvenile male correctional center, including supervising over 300 employees. Staff consists of correctional officers/security; support services including dining hall, maintenance, human resources, infirmary, and volunteer services; casework/ counselors, and recreation. Represent the facility at various community and organizational meetings; maintain policy and procedures, and certification/standards review.

Responsible for all non-medical clinical services for two adolescent coed residential treatment facilities: the Crawford campus, licensed for 165 beds, male and female adolescents in six clinical programs for conduct disorder, psychiatric and mild MR/DD populations; and the Kenbridge campus, licensed 50 beds, for dual diagnosed MR/DD and psychiatric disorders. Supervise Clinical Directors, clinical staff and programming, ensure compliance with JCAHO regulations and state, federal and local standards, review and create appropriate clinical programming. Ensure coordination with referral agencies from several states and VA, including liaison regarding contract compliance, and participate in public speaking/marketing services.

Provided individual and family psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults. Provided psychological and forensic aassessments for the community - including ADHD evaluations, psychological evaluations for schools, psychosexual assessments and forensic (competency, sanity) evaluations for the courts.

Responsible for all psychological services on a 14 bed residential adolescent sex offender program in a juvenile correctional center. Provide direct services including individual and group psychotherapy; psychological testing; treatment planning participation; consultation and training of staff; sex offender evaluations; school Triennial evaluations; and program development and evaluation.

Responsible for all psychological services at a 700 bed state psychiatric hospital. This includes establishing and monitoring QA and JCAHO standards; providing and ensuring appropriate clinical and administrative supervision for 15 psychologists (licensed and non-licensed; doctoral and Master’s level); liaison with graduate psychology departments for student placement; training and research; and provide case and program consultation on units and with other disciplines. Developing and implementing an Admission/Security inpatient unit for forensic psychiatric patients.

Duties include providing direct psychological services; psychological/court-ordered evaluations; consultation and education; psychiatric emergency coverage; development of clinical programs; supervision and training of clinical (psychologists, social workers and case managers) and administrative (secretarial/clerical) staff; and official liaison with local agencies, schools and organizations.
