Establishes, directs and coordinates all operations of ERIE's Middle Market function for large commercial accounts. Manages and coordinates related functions of the process, including rating, loss control, premium audit and underwriting. Provides expert technical analysis on complex, specialized risks, including Surety Services. Responsible for all Reunderwriting functions for the entire Commercial and Personal lines books.Srengthens relationships and understanding of various markets by working closely with Agents.

•Supervises the overall operations of the section. Interviews, hires, trains and directs section personnel. Prepares and conducts performance assessments, coordinates discipline and oversees employee development.•Supervises the underwriting process and supporting quote contact center function to ensure appropriate risk selection, pricing and expense management in order to achieve growth, profitability and customer service objectives.•Assists in developing short-range objectives, budgets and tactical plans to ensure alignment with ERIE’s corporate strategy.•Collaborates with commercial lines product managers and marketing staff on competitive issues, including rate reviews and rate recommendations.•Establishes and maintains effective relationships with branch sales, claims and risk control functions. Includes leading discussions between underwriting, risk control and sales functions on strategies for acquiring and renewing key customers.•Monitors adherence to and effectiveness of internal controls and compliance guidelines through self-audits of underwriting procedures and practices.
