I worked in the civil labs starting summer 2013, originally as an Undergrad Assistant. I have helped graduate students with a variety of projects dealing with innovative concrete, and composite strengthening. I have assisted in making batches of high volume fly ash concrete (HVFA), self consolidating concrete (SCC), and ultra high performance concrete (UHPC). I have gone on site to a bridge under construction to make concrete specimens and helped test them in the lab for compressive strength and modulus of elasticity. I have also been to a completed composite bridge site and taken thermal strain data. In the lab, I have also made rebar cages for reinforced concrete beams, and helped with the pouring, demolding, and curing process. I then assisted in pre-cracking the beams, and then strengthening them with PBO fiber in flexure and shear.

Rolla, Missouri

As a TA for surveying, I give weekly lectures to students about the week's lab. I teach them how to set up and use the equipment, including auto levels and total stations, and answer any questions they have in the field.
