I had a thirty-two year career in public service, fourteen years at the executive level. I am a former Director General in CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) and also worked at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., the Canadian Embassy in Haiti, Canada's Foreign Affairs department and the Government of Saskatchewan. Since retiring from government, I have worked the past five years on a part-time basis as an online tutor in the Masters of Global Health Program at McMaster University in Canada affiliated with Maastricht University in the Netherlands.My previous work experience includes managing Canadian international development programs in Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa; assisting Canada’s humanitarian response to the Haiti Earthquake, the Tsunami crisis in Asia and Hurricane Mitch in Central America; contributing to Canada's involvement at the Summit of the Americas, Sommet de la francophonie, G-7, United Nations General Assembly, Global Environment Facility and IDA-11 replenishments; participating in the OECD Peer Review of Belgium's international cooperation program; and developing public sector partnerships with Canadian civil society, educational institutions and the private sector.I have executive-level experience in program delivery, policy analysis, strategic planning and budgeting, human resource management, organizational change, evaluation and audit, communications and stakeholder management. I have lived in Canada, the U.S., Haiti, Switzerland, France, Jamaica and Sweden. I am fluent in English and French and have an intermediate knowledge of Spanish.
