My 22 years with the PwC Insurance Practice took me on a journey from Sydney, Australia (when it was known as Coopers & Lybrand), to short term secondments in far flung locations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, London & New Zealand, to a long-term career move to the United States and then Tokyo, Japan for many years, before ending on a high note back in the United States, in New York City. While my time at PwC was always with an insurance theme it was enlivened by extensive exposure to Property & Casualty, Life Insurance and Reinsurance. It started with Audit Assurance and while this remained a constant thread over time, I had substantial exposure to M&A, public offerings, financial consulting, financial restructuring, transaction structuring and financial/operational efficiency projects. It was a career journey that gave me an extensive foundation of insurance technical knowledge, superior communication abilities and an ability for resiliency in challenging circumstances. It was a career experience that repeatedly threw me into the deep end of a pool and taught me to swim, and swim well. Resilience was a critical skill deeply learned.PwC gave me exposure to the top tier of the insurance industry – AIG, Allianz, Zurich, Lloyd’s, QBE, MassMutual, AXA, Aviva, and Chubb.
