Michael K. is a Principal Process Engineer at DRS Daylight Solutions at Daylight Solutions. Colleagues describe him as "I tremendously enjoyed working with Mike for several years first at Alfalight, and then at Compound Photonics. He is a very practical team leader, with intimate knowledge of apparently everything (at least to me, his undoubtedly less hands-on supervisor at the time). He is the one taking the impossible view of a sample on a SEM, then estimating the remaining lifetime on a turbo pump by ear, and later repairing the humidity control on an AHU. Because someone has to do it. And Mike is a star at leading by example of dedication, smarts, hard work, combined with an increasingly rare “no job is beneath me” attitude. I also had the privilege to work with him on several R&D projects, where he would repeatedly translate complex results into the simplest experiment to provide incremental knowledge on a problem. This is perhaps his greatest gift. I saw him get us out of complex metallurgy, wafer processing, and epitaxy pickles with remarkable efficiency, always keeping an eye on proper change management, statistical process control, and quality assurance. It goes without saying that I recommend him highly, and I would be thrilled to work with him again in the future."
