The proud owner of KW Designed Solution Ltd, a company formed in Oct 2004, and since becoming a global leader in the supply of specialist high pressure testing facilities and equipment to Oil & Gas, Subsea, Materials Research, Laboratory and University industry sectors. Whilst the company has a fantastic team running the day to day business activities and processes, I lead business development and drive sales to ensure a prosperous future for all involved at KW.Straight out of school, my engineering career began at the age of 16, having completed a technician level apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, progressing with substantial machining experience I was focused towards managerial roles. Being self-motivated and applying learned aspects of continued training course, I became Production Manager before the age of 25. Having worked for various other companies being involved with developing manufacturing facilities and company set-ups, I sought the opportunity to form KWDS, an experience that has brought highs and lows, however, I find owning KWDS most satisfying and enjoyable, I wouldn’t want it any other way… My aim for KWDS is to continually develop and improve the business systems, to promote business growth, obtain security and rewards for the company’s employees. To ensure KWDS provides a service to the best of its abilities with the aim to assist and satisfy existing and future customers, delivering the equipment and products they desire to improve their own business needs.

Learning and developing skills to perform many manufacturing processes associated with sub-contract engineering. Velden was at the forefront of providing best practice business growth and managerial training. The "switched on" and highly motivated and Quality focused MD created a brilliant platform for its apprentices and employees, at all levels. I became involved in restructuring the company's Planning Department implementing set-up reduction, just-in-time (JIT) scheduling production systems, dealing with quality and traceability record keeping systems for Aerospace and MOD type customers. Whilst performing duties of Production / Purchasing Manager – I worked part of the management team, chairing daily / weekly production meetings, attended quarterly management meeting and became involved with target setting, reporting measured values and analysing company performance. Attending intensive business growth and managerial training course carried out by EITB, which included:• business structuring • stream-lining in-house processes • team building• time management • managing constraints • appraisal and development techniques• innovation and creative thinking• improvement groups• problem solving • managing people.I’m sure it’s fair to say that my time at Velden certainly helped develop my technical skills associated with engineering and commercial business acumen. For some people Velden provided them a job for life and there, some people still working there 20 years later since I left; then there are others who have left and become very successful, setting up and running businesses of their own or working in elevated managerial positions.
