Michael Keidar is A. James Clark Professor of Engineering at the George Washington University President of the Electric Rocket Propulsion Society, from May 1, 2020Fellow of National Academy of InventorsHe has authored over 350 journal papers and 340 conference papers and a textbook “Plasma Engineering: Applications from Aerospace to Bio and Nanotechnology” (Elsevier, 2013, 2nd Edition, 2018). In 2016 he was named Engineer of The Year by AIAA NCS and 2017 AIAA Engineer of the Year with citation “for outstanding science and engineering of space propulsion system using micro-cathode arc thrusters and applications to US Naval Academy cubestas and NASA-Yonsei University/KARI CANYVAL-X cubesat and for promoting education and research in space propulsion”. In 2017 he was awarded Ronald C. Davidson Award for Plasma Physics for his contribution to plasma physics community. Prof. Keidar is the director of the Micro-Propulsion and Nanotechnology Laboratory (MpNL) (https://www.mpnl.seas.gwu.edu/) and the director of George Washington Institute for Nanotechnology (GWIN) (http://gwin.gwu.edu ). Prof. Keidar serves as Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Electric Propulsion, AIP Advances associate editor, Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions in Radiation and Plasma Medical Sciences and member of editorial board of half dozen of journals. He is Fellow of American Physical Society and Fellow of American Institute of Astronautics and Aeronautics.Beyond his basic research program, Dr. Keidar consults in the areas of plasma medicine and electric propulsion.
