1. This position was offered by Thiess on behalf of Silcar Pty Ltd as a FIFO assignment to Koniambo Nickel power station in New Galedonia, the assignment was to begin on 15th October 2014 after an introductry period based in Melbourne while a French visa was arranged then transfer to VOH, NC. 2. On arrival at Koniambo Nickel, I was informed that the intended assignment was no longer required. I was asked to join the Silcar team as a shift Shutdown Manager for the #2 Boiler Shutdown. This role was a rotating 12 hour x 4 day shift arrangement with three of us sharing the coorination & expediting role, daily schedule updates with progress meetings with team leaders and client representatives. The shutdown was completed and boiler start-up happened late December 2014.Notices was given to all Australian Silcar employee contracts in NC would be terminated in April 2015 and there was no longer term prospects, My time in New Caledonian concluded early, effective on 26th December 2014.
