I'm a lead software developer with Ansys Inc for our flagship post-processing and analysis software (www.ansys.com/products/fluids/ansys-ensight). Currently, I have three main areas of responsibility: software development, team DevOps, and local office IT. For software development my main expertise is in several areas: distributed rendering framework, communication framework, parallel and distributed launching and job management, and general parallel and distributed development. Historically, I’ve had a major role with our build and testing systems, licensing software, GUI component development, and 3rd party software integration and deployment. Recent development and design activities include Pythonic and gRPC interfaces to our components, Docker containerization, and cloud development (AWS, Azure, and homegrown). In 2024, I and a colleague took over our team’s DevOps needs, in addition to ongoing software development. This is a natural addition given past experiences with cross-platform development, IT, and problem solving. We've reduced build times by 60%, decreased build pipeline software by 66% while adding capability, resolved long-standing problems, and instituted version control and PR approval for areas not previously covered.
