  Michael Kutnick is staff with the AMA. In his role, he serves as the lead staff member responsible for all issues related to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) physicians, medical students and patients. Additionally, Michael manages the AMA Advisory Committee on GLBT Issues which is comprised of physicians and medical students from around the US. The committee’s charge is to advise the AMA on issues of concern to GLBT physicians and medical students. In recent years, Michael worked with members of the Advisory Committee to revise all AMA policies to be inclusive for transgender physicians, medical students and patients, designed important new educational offerings for US physicians on GLBT health issues, and worked with AMA members on several new GLBT related reports or policy statements including one in which the AMA now supports public and private health insurance coverage for treatment of gender identity disorder as recommended by a physician.
