When the entrepreneurial bug bit Michael LaPage at age 20, there was no turning back. He opened a used car lot at age 21, and four years later started his own landscape construction business, which he grew into a multi-million dollar, 12-employee operation. Michael sold that business to pursue his career in financial services, but a common thread remained that connected these seemingly very different pursuits: the art of cultivation. This art applied quite literally to Michael’s landscaping days, but also more broadly to his ability to select and develop successful advisors and helping them multiply the effect of that success. His experiences as an entrepreneur—along with his personal motto, “effort supersedes all,”—are the driving forces behind his leadership style.Outside of work, Michael is usually outside. He and his wife, also an entrepreneur, enjoy all that the Adirondacks have to offer with their two growing children.
