Michael is currently Producer for American Health Journal, an award-winning 30-minute health care television series which has aired continuously for over 25 years, featured on PBS, CBS, NBC, ABC and affiliates. Each 30-minute episode features five 4 1/2 minute segments and a diverse range of health care professionals discussing the fullest spectrum of medical topics. With a vast library of nearly 600 shows, American Health Journal has consistently provided and continues to provide its dedicated audience with groundbreaking information on treatments, technologies and new discoveries. The series has interviewed over 6,000 physicians, visiting over 100 hospital systems in the process. Shows are shot on location, showcasing real health experts, from family practitioners to Nobel Laureates, in their own real work environment.After majoring in Psychology at the University of Illinois, Michael Lesner was immediately hired by the Leo Burnett Agency, Chicago. Here he was placed into the coveted Copy Trainee Program where he was schooled by Mr. Burnett, himself, in the concept of “inherent drama.” Early on, Michael worked side-by-side with the creators of Snap, Crackle & Pop, Tony the Tiger, the Marlboro Man, the Keebler Elf, and the Jolly Green Giant.He became eligible for a more senior writing position with another top agency, Young & Rubicam. Here he was challenged with his first unsupervised television assignment, a campaign for client Allied Van Lines. His award-winning effort, “We Move Families, Not Furniture” was widely recognized and universally applauded. An invitation from J. Walter Thompson lured Michael to San Francisco where he polished his skills in broadcast production for Shakey’s Pizza and Jantzen. His work on the west coast soon came to the attention of CBS Network Television.
